DD officials carried out detailed inspection
of STBs at the MCBS factory in Gandhinagar before despatch to
various sites.

Doordarshan started trial runs of DD DirectPlus
in May 2004 by providing 17 DD Channels.

DD DirectPlus DTH platform was officially launched
by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh on
16 th Dec. 2004.

Presently, DD boquet provides a total of 33
TV channels with 19 DD channels and 14 private TV channels.
In addition, it has 12 Radio channels.

Prasar Bharati has announced
to add more channels to make it a 50 channel boquet, soon.
- Some features of set- top box (IRD):

It is based on BIS standards and has been tested for 45-300
V AC for rural application.

It is based on IInd generation NEC Chipsets with a user- friendly
menu, SPDIF o/p for high quality digital sound and S-band video
o/p over scart.

This STB has been well accepted and is working satisfactorily
at various locations.
- MCBS has provided a detailed brochure and CD-ROM
covering installation procedure for easy and efficient installation
& commisioning.

FEATURES OF MCBS APNA DTH PRODUCTS

- APNA DTH is
a registered trademark of MCBS for DTH terminals designed and
developed for various DTH platforms in India. It consists of a
variety of dish antenna terminals with LNBF and Set-top boxes
to suit the needs of all customers.
- APNA DTH products
are being designed and developed by MCBS using world's best and
latest technology in antenna, LNBF and Set-top boxes (IRD).
- APNA DTH products
are based on open DVB standards and can be used for several DTH
platforms with or without Conditional Access System (CAS). They
are already operational and would shortly be available.
- APNA DTH provides
choice of Set-top boxes with several features built-in and made
user-friendly.These are available in a variety of models to include
i. CI slot ii. FTA iii. Battery operation iv. FTA & DVD v.
Set-top box with positioner for moving vehicles. v. Multisat antenna
and Set-top box.

can be used with all DTH platforms which provide FTA channels
and OPEN DVB-CAS pay TV channels.

terminals & LNBF are also approved for several DTH services.
PRASAR BHARATI (Doordarshan) has purchased around 8000 STB (IRD)
from MCBS to deploy throughout india for its DD DirectPlus DTH
platform.
